It was my first in-house, start-up job and my first time experiencing Silicon Valley up close. All the stereotypes were true. There was an army of coders at their stand-up desks sequencing DNA and making it accessible to anyone willing to spit in a tube. And there was a down-to-earth Gazillionaire CEO who understood that we needed to make chromosomes fun and approachable to people who barely graduated 10th grade Biology. The TV never aired due to pending FDA legislative issues, but the work was scrappy and some of the most fun I ever had.
